Turbidite Fred and the Gang!

Here’s another one from Frederic Frankel. This time he and his colleagues are in the central Karoo Basin (about 4 hours drive north of Cape Town, South Africa) examining world class rock outcrops of deepwater submarine fan systems and the associated channels and turbidite facies that are exposed there. Huh? They form the top of the bluff behind the group photo. Oh!

Frederic said they also uncovered springboks, ostriches and a black cobra… just another day at the office!
